Can they work together?
There is a workable split, the same one Obsidian users run: NotePlan as the notebook (meeting notes, daily journal, reference), asambl as the planner that decides the week. Keep the timeblocking on one side only, otherwise two tools compete to shape the same days. The honest caveat is overlap: NotePlan plans too, so if you find yourself writing the week in NotePlan after approving it in asambl, you have your answer about which tool you actually trust with the job.
Switching, or starting alongside
What actually moves: connect Google Calendar and your commitments appear in asambl as the fixed wall, which is the only automatic import. Your NotePlan notes stay exactly where they are, as the plain markdown they already were; asambl does not read or import them, and nothing needs converting.
